Luberon

Visit its natural park, its perched villages...

The Luberon, a mountain range that stretches from the Alpes de Haute-Provence to near the City of the Popes, offers a wealth of Provencal experiences. An hour after leaving Marseille, you are in the Luberon Regional Nature Park. Abundance catches your eye wherever you are. In front of the venerable Cistercian abbey of Sénanque, you contemplate centuries of history that the lavender fields only embellish.

A land of colours, the Luberon becomes ochre when you visit the small village of Roussillon overlooking the abbey. Variations that you can find in the "Colorado Provençal" and its glowing quarries in Rustrel.

The red ochre mingles with the mauve, green and white of these small perched villages bathed in a light of which Provence has the secret. Lourmarin, Bonnieux and Gordes form an emerald triangle where you can enjoy the Provencal art of living as it should be: with simplicity.

A simple pastis, enjoyed at the Café de l'Ormeau in Lourmarin, is suddenly transformed into a scene from Marcel Pagnol. A dip in the Bonde pond becomes a cure for youth. A simple walk in Oppède-le-Vieux transports you to a timeless world, that of a village frozen in its garrigue. A simple ball of ice on the heights of Ansouis, gives you infinite perspectives where you find these nuances now familiar.
